Day 1

Arrival to Quito, transfer to Café Cultura. After a refreshing cocktail, departure to the Equatorial Monument, 25 Kms. [16 miles] North of Quito, which marks the exact Middle of the World, latitude 0º, where you can stand with a foot on each hemisphere. Visit the Ethnographic Museum inside the monument, which shows the different Native American groups living in Ecuador, and the colonial-style town, complete with main square, church, post office, bullring, cafeterias, restaurants and many gift shops with postcards and souvenirs. Lunch at El Crater restaurant, overlooking the Pululahua Crater.  After lunch visit to the Ruins of Rumicucho and transfer back to Quito. Dinner and overnight stay at Café Cultura. (B,L,D)

Day 2

After breakfast we start our cultural city tour. This tour brings you first to the old town of Quito, visiting the Parliament Building, whose stone mural records Ecuador's history. Then visit the colonial temples and monasteries of this urban jewel, designated by UNESCO a World Heritage Site, with the Independence Plaza, the Cathedral, the church of El Sagrario, the Presidential Palace, the Municipal Building and the Archbishop's Palace. Also the Church of La Compañía de Jesús, one of the most impressive of Latin America, and the Church of San Francisco, one the of great religious buildings of the New World; with its impressive façade and atrium which lead to its gilt interior a Baroque influenced by Moorish style, with the winged Virgin of Quito at its main altar.


Lunch at one of the most renowned restaurants in downtown Quito, and then continue to Museo de la Ciudad, the Convent of Santo Domingo and some of the modern-new city of Quito and it's main plazas an monuments. Dinner and overnight stay at Café Cultura. (B,L,D)

Day 3

After lunch, we will continue with our cultural tour, visiting some of the most important private collections of colonial art, archaeology and contemporary art. Lunch at Mucki's restaurant, out of Quito, on the valley of Los Chillos, and rated as the best in Ecuador. Afternoon return to Quito, dinner and overnight stay at Café Cultura. (B,L,D)

Day 4

After breakfast, departure to the famous Otavalo market on the busiest day of the week. As well as the bustling craft market and stalls with exotic fruit, there is a food market where the locals - dressed in their very distinctive traditional costumes- come from their small farms in the mountains to sell their farm produce and buy their weekly supplies.  Lunch in Hacienda Pinsaqui, reputedly frequented by the great South American liberator, Simon Bolivar and then afternoon visit to Cotacachi, San Antonio de Ibarra, and nearby towns. Return to Quito, and dinner at La Viña, a restaurant renowned for its great food and service. Overnight stay at Café Cultura.(B,L,D)

Day 5

After breakfast, early departure to Papallacta Hot Springs, when you can relax at the thermal baths, explore the nature trails or indulge in luxurious spa treatments. . Lunch, dinner and overnight stay at Termas de Papallacta. (B,L,D)

Day 6

After breakfast, departure to Shell town to catch private flight to Kapawi lodge. Kapawi is a beautiful ecological project located in Achuar territory on a lake near the Pastaza river in one of the most remote areas of the Ecuadorian Amazon, near the Ecuadorian/Peruvian border, with great wildlife and excellent primary forest. Day 10

After breakfast, flight back to Shell, and then overland transfer to the lovely town of Baños, tour of the city and the impressive waterfalls Manto de la Novia and Pailon del Diablo.  Lunch in town and then departure to Hacienda Leito, 40 minutes outside of Baños along the route to the valley of Patate. Dinner and overnight stay at Leito. (B.L.D)

Day 11

After breakfast, early departure to Alausi to catch the train ride at the La Nariz del Diablo. Then departure to Ingapirca, the most important and impressive Inca ruins in Ecuador, located near Cuenca. Dinner and overnight stay at Posada Ingapirca. (B,BL,D)

Day 12

After breakfast, visit to the Ruins of Ingapirca and then lunch at the lovely Hacienda San Juan Pamba. Afternoon visit to the "Casa de la Mujer" with beautiful handcrafts made by the townswomen. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Crespo in Cuenca. (B,L,D)

Day 13

After breakfast, full day city tour of Cuenca, Ecuador's most beautiful city that enjoys a mild climate and has the placid atmosphere of a small city, both deeply religious and artistic.  Its landscape combined with the old and modern architecture, has prompted UNESCO to name it a World Cultural Heritage Site.  We will visit the Cathedral, the Museum of Las Conceptas, the flower market among some other interesting places. After lunch at Villarosa we will visit the Turi viewpoint, and one of the most important pottery galleries of Cuenca. Then we'll visit "La Caba de Miguel" a rum distilling factory, and a Panama Hat factory, where the famous hats [known as Sombreros de Paja Toquilla] are made. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Crespo. (B,L,D)

Day 14

After breakfast, departure to Gualaceo [40 minutes from Cuenca], an important handmade textile centre, and Chordeleg, where you can find high quality gold and silver jewellery at low prices.  Lunch at Chordeleg and return to Cuenca in time for flight back to Guayaquil. Reception at theGuayaquil airport and transfer to Hotel Ramada overlooking the Malecón 2000.

Breakfast and transfer to airport forl flight to Galapagos. Transfer to your ship or cruise yacht. (B,L,D)

Day 19

After breakfast, early visit to your final island and departure flight to Guayaquil city. Transfer to hotel. After lunch, city tour of Guayaquil including visit to the famous Barrio Las Peñas [an artistic and bohemian neighbourhood], the Malecón 2000 and some of the most important streets and monuments. Dinner on board Captain's Morgan Ship, to enjoy a pleasant trip on Guayas river, observing the city of Guayaquil by night. Return to the hotel, overnight stay. (B,L)

Day 20

After breakfast, departure to Hacienda La Herminia, [1½ hrs] outside of Guayaquil, to see the coast region and it's important cocoa and banana plantations.  Lunch at the Hacienda and return to Guayaquil in time for departure flight.
