AGRICULTURE AND FISH FARMING

Studies were carried out in 1986 regarding agricultural production.  Agriculture and fishing is most significant on the islands of Isabel, Santa Cruz and San Cristobal. 


Use of Terrain

Isla Santa Cruz [11.446,57 hectares] has the largest number of hectares dedicated to the cultivation of fruits, pastures and forests.  Isla San Cristobal uses 7.891 hectares and Isla Isabel 4.786,75 hectares.


Cattle Farming

Santa Cruz has the largest cattle population (bovine, equestrian above all) with over 8 thousand heads. 


Permanent Crops

Coffee, plantain, guinea and sugar cane are among permanent crops, the majority on the island San Cristobal with a total of 898,25 hectares dedicated to their cultivation.
