In rough terms, there are about a dozen major, a dozen minor and about 50 small islands and islets in the Galapagos chain. Of these only five are inhabited:
Santa Cruz,
Baltra,
San Cristobal,
Santa Maria [
usually known as Floreana] and
Isabela. The capital of Ecuador’s
Galapagos Province is
Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on
San Cristobal Island, although the largest town is
Puerto Ayora on
Santa Cruz.
