 GALAPAGOS INVERTEBRATES
Among the wide variety of anemones, chitons, corals, jellyfish, sponges, snails, sea slugs, shrimps, starfish, lobsters, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, barnacles and crabs, the most eye-catching is the bright red-topped, blue-bottomed Sally lightfoot crab [Grapsus grapsus], which can be seen scurrying over almost every rock in the archipelago.

On beaches and in rock pools you can see many ghost crabs and hermit crabs.

For divers, there’s not as much living coral as in other top diving spots, like the Red Sea or the Maldives, but the abundance and variety of other marine life is stunning.
