 MOMPICHE
From the turn-off to the Galera headland, the new road linking Muisne to Pedernales loops inland. About 15 kilometers [nine miles] after the crossroads, the main road passes the dirt track for Mompiche, which is impassable for parts of the rainy season.

Mompiche ranks among the most idyllic, unspoiled beaches on the coast, little more than a sprinkling of huts and fishing boats.

Getting there. The best way to get there is on an early morning boat from Muisne or Cojimies, but you can also walk the 12 kilometers [seven-and-a-half miles] at low tide, with the help of a fisherman to cross the odd river.
