 LOJA / PLACES TO SLEEP

Due to the popularity of the Virgen del Cisne processions Loja has plenty of hotels. But since not that many tourists come through the town, at other times of year some of the cheaper establishments shut up shop altogether. Book well ahead at festival times.

The nearby town of Vilcabamba (45 mins by car or bus) is a favourite hang-out spot with travellers. Peaceful and surrounded by hills, it's the perfect place to unwind and relax, and has plenty of hostels to suit all budgets. See Vilcabamba section for more details.
