La Toma airport
is 30 km

of Catamayo.
It takes under
an hour to
get there,
via a long
winding road
through stunning
countryside.
The road continues
through wild
hills all
the way down
to Machala,
although parts
of it are
truly tortuous.
A taxi will
take you there
for about

if you're
sharing the
trip. There
are also buses
to Loja for
US$1.00*.
But, this
is not recommended
if you have
heavy luggage.
The bus station

Isidro Ayora

of the city
centre].
