 IBARRA / GETTING THERE

There are frequent buses between Ibarra, Otavalo, Quito, Tulcan and other major towns, but the main bus station has been closed for renovation. Until it reopens, bus companies will continue to use their own, clustering close to the obelisk area.
If arriving at night, take a taxi to your hotel since the area around the train station and south of the obelisk is unsafe.

Frequent bus service is offered by the following cooperatives:
Supertaxis Los Lagos. Address: Flores 924 and Sanchez Cifuentes, Parque La Merced [<-> Otavalo, Quito and Tulcan].
Trans Andina. Located on Chica Narvaez [<-> Otavalo, Quito and Tulcan].
Expreso Turismo. Address: Moncayo between Flores and Vacas [<-> Otavalo, Quito and Tulcan].
Trans Otavalo. Address: Av. F. E. Vacas third block [<-> Otavalo, Quito].

To Otavalo, 30 minutes, US$0.50*. To Quito , 2-3 hours, US$3*. To Cotacachi, 1 hour, US$0.40*. To Tulcan, 2 hours, US$2*.

*Prices are approximate
