Shell
is located
some 15km
west of Puyo
and 45km from
Banos
[2 hours].
Along the
Puyo-Banos
road, you'll
enjoy the
outstanding
views of the
Pastaza

General
information
Shell
is an American
missionary
centre with
hospitals,
churches and
schools. They
also provide
emergency
services through
the Voz
Andes hospital
[795172].
This is the
most important
airstrip of
the Pastaza
province,
a small village
where you'll
never get
lost.
Getting
there
There
are frequent
flights
by FAE
[ Fuerza
Aerea Ecuatoriana
]
from Shell
to Quito
and to the
main
Amazon
cities and
smaller villages
.
As schedules
and routes
vary from
day to day
sometimes
you’ll have
to wait to
get a flight
going to where
you need to
go to. If
you're travelling
to nearby
villages you’re
better off
going by bus
- it's faster
and cheaper.
There
is no bus
station in
Shell
so you
have to stand
at the main
road and wait
for the main
buses
that travel
either to
Puyo,
or Banos.
To get to
Puyo
expect to
pay around
US$0.50*,
and US$2.00*
to Banos.
