With
a population
of only about
4,000, Misahualli
isn't well
endowed with
urban amenities.
On the Pununo
road there's
a telephone
office,
with only
two lines,
and there
are a few
shops where
you can get
basic supplies.
There's also
a doctor
at the end
of the Tena
road who runs
the pharmacy
near the main
plaza.
There are
plenty of
travel agencies
and guides
in Misahualli,
though some
are relocating
up to Coca
where jungle
tourism is
expanding.
Misahualli
isn’t exactly
in the heart
of the jungle,
but it’s a
good place
to see some
of the typical
people, birds
and insects
that live
in the area.
