Located
on the East
side of the
Central Park,
the Civic
Park was constructed
on the hillside
between the
Church and
the Central
Park. It’s
comprised
of three main
areas, the
first of which
features a
square with
a pool and
three access
routes towards
the second
area.
The
second area
contains decorative
fern species,
ornamental
trees and
benches where
you can kick
back and appreciate
the scenery.
The
final area
features a
series of
ornamental
trees in addition
to a panoramic
view of the
city centre
and a bust
of the missionary
Salesiano
Carlos Simonete.
A
staircase
connects this
section of
the park to
Don Bosco
street and
the Catedral.
The
walls of the
park are decorated
with drawings
including
the sun that
symbolises
the Pre-Colombian
period before
the arrival
of the Hispanic
Americans
to the region.
