 MACAS / GETTING THERE
By air
The airport is located to the east of town. The airline TAME tel./fax [07 - 701162] runs flights to and from Quito about three times a week, but check with them for latest times and fares. The other airline operating in this area is Austro Aereo [07 - 700939] which flies to Cuenca most days of the working week. There are also flights by the Air Force and missionary planes. These are difficult to get on but worth inquiring about.

By bus
The bus terminal is on 10 de Agosto at Amazonas, two blocks east of the main plaza. There are regular departures to northern and southern destinations. Buses are unable to cross the bridge for the road to Puyo, however it is possible to catch a different one on the other side of the roaring Rio Pastaza.

Frequent bus services to Cuenca [US$8*], approximately 12 hours. To Sucua, 1 hour. To Puyo, 6 hours.

*Prices quoted are approximate.
