Travel 50km south of Mendez and you'll get to mission town Limon, officially called General Leonidas Plaza. Founded by missionaries around 70 years ago, it lies hidden away in thick jungle.

The town’s population is just 3,000. Accommodation facilities are limited to a few hotels and restaurants in a single street. Although the town has no outstanding attractions, the bustling town with friendly people is worth a visit if you’re passing through.

Getting there

Buses leave from Calle Quito onward to Macas, Cuenca and Gualaquiza.
