Four
hours from
Limon
is Gualaquiza.
The town's
main attractions
are its remoteness
and scenic
setting in
the hills,
but the nearby
unexplored
Inca
ruins,
deserted caves
and the Salesian
Mission of
Bomboiza are
also worth
checking out.
Further on,
the village
of Yantzaza
is said to
be one of
the fastest-growing
towns in Zamora
Chinchipe
Province
because of
mining activity.
Nearby is
the Wild West,
gold-rush
town of Nambija.
Once a source
of Inca gold,
you're unlikely
to visit this
place unless
you want to
risk life
for a false
vision of
sudden riches.
