Getting there
   SIGHTS

Lakes Jatuncocha and Garzacocha are particularly attractive for the flora and fauna present, which is characteristic of the area. River Yasuni is perfect if wishing to observe pink dolphins.

It’s possible to access River Tiputini relatively easily and the scenery along the way is spectacular. This route also leads to Nuevo Rocafuerte.

Lake Anango is known for its attractive scenery. There is a pathway from the Quichua community of Anango leading to the lake. By foot it takes around an hour and a half to get there, or access is also possible by boat.

By navigating river Shiripuno, Tinguino and Cononaco, the exotic and extraordinary landscape can be enjoyed.

Just like the other rivers in the Park, River Curaray is a main attraction along with the small lakes housing a high level of biodiversity. Just outside the Park’s borders is the community of San Jose de Curaray which can be accessed by air. This community is well known for its production of artisan crafts sold within and outside the Park.

Pompeya Archaelogical Museum

This is in fact a part of Limoncocha Biological Reserve which is located four hours away from Coca or tow hours if arriving by boat from River Napo. It’s worth visiting to see the range of artefacts housed here.

Pompeya (Puerto de Palos)

There is a trade fair every weekend in Pompeya, which is of particular interest to tourists wishing to purchase hand-made products and crafts the zone has to offer.

Nuevo Rocafuerte

This sector houses the river bains and lakes which are easily accessed. This is the perfect place to observe the zone’s biodiversity.

Lake Panacocha

Situated just outside the National Park’s northern borders, Lake Panacocha receives a constant flow of visitors. The lake is extremely large and nearby there stands a gigantic ‘ceibo’ tree which has transformed itself into a natural observatory from which the adjacent landscape can be appreciated.

Estacion Cientifica Yasuni – PUCE (Yasuni Research Station)

The Yasuni Research Station, which is situated inside the Park on the banks of the River Tiputini, is an investigative centre belonging to the Pontifical Catholic University and was established in 1993. With a capacity to house up to 50 research specialists, its principle function is to carry out botanical studies in order to learn more about the area’s floral species.

Estacion de Biodiversidad Tiputini – USFQ (Tiputini Biodiversity Station)

Tipuntini Biodiversity Station belongs to Quito ’s San Francisco University and is located just outside of the Park’s borders on the northern banks of the River Tiputini. Founded in 1994, the Station houses research rooms, labs, a herbarium, accommodation for visiting students and an observation tower. The Station is dedicated to the research of specific topics which aim to serve a wide range of interests.
