Getting there
   GETTING THERE

The North Pan-American Highway is the main road providing access to the Reserve. From the Mascarilla police checkpoint take the turning for the Ibarra-El Angel road, which passes through Mira and San Isidro , providing the visitor with some spectacular views of the Andean landscape and the Andean condor’s habitats in the uppermost sector of Chiltazon. From El Angel take the road that leads to Tulcan to arrive at tourist site El Voladero, which is in fact situated inside the Reserve. Alternatively, take the route towards the village of Jesus del Gran Poder, past the eastern border of the area, which eventually leads to El Salado, or further along the road to the Socabones viewpoint.

It’s also possible to gain access to the Reserve from Tulcan by taking the dirt track road bound for Maldonado, which passes by the outskirts of Volcano Chiles and leads to tourist spots Aguas Hediondas, the Lagunas Verdes and Potrerillos.
